Ask The Experts About Internet Selling Definition

George asks…

Is this a correct definition of “catnapper”?

OK so I looked up “catnapper” on the internet and I got a furntiure company that sells sofas and then I scrolled down and all it gave me was the same furniture company called “Catnapper”. So then finally I got a dictionary at the Merriam Webster online dictionary and it says, “Catnapper: one who steals cats usually to sell them for research.” Is that a correct definition? I thought it meant “someone who takes frequent naps” or something like that. But I can’t find that definition in the dictionary.

P.S. I put the question on this group becoz I thought people here should be the best ones to answer the question becioz it deals with cats.

Yes, a cat nap is a very short, light nap that normally involves falling in and out of sleep – like a cat does! So I suppose someone who takes those would be a catnapper – though you don’t really hear it used liked that (you’d normally hear “I like to take cat naps” or “she takes frequent cat naps” instead of “I’m/she’s a catnapper”).

You probably won’t find it in a dictionary – it’s an informal expression / colloquialism.

Catnapper, like someone who steals cats, would of course also be technically right.
